Patriarchy is well and alive. Today, in many so-called liberal households. These things about the 50s, if true, are amusing but unsurprising.
@Anon: Yes, I know patriarchy is still alive and kicking, and not just in the "backward areas". But at least it isn't so blatant now.
Some would say- they had ethics then;)
